Kilstofte's new song cycle, "The White Album," might appear to be Beatles-related (or even Didion-esque), but in reality has everything to do with the themes — love, loss, life and death — of the poems (by Americans Mark Strand, James Merrill, Linda Pastan, Erica Funkhouser and Nancy Willard) it contains, all of which make mention of the unifying color white. Commissioned by Harvard's Fromm Music Foundation and premiered by Jacquelyn Stucker and Finnegan Downie Dear at London's Royal Opera House. Also available for voice and chamber ensemble.
